Monica Serrano Thomas

MSSW, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from Baylor University with a Master’s in Clinical Social Work. I am a dedicated bilingual mental health professional focused on improving my clients well-being through compassionate support. I have experience providing therapeutic services in many clinical settings, from psychiatric inpatient hospitals to community non-profits and private practice’s. My experience encompasses working with individuals, families, children, and adolescents who come from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I am an EMDR Trained Clinician, and I am Certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT).

My mission is to provide a supportive, affirmative, and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore and understand themselves better. I am passionate about helping my clients navigate their personal journeys to foster a deeper self-awareness and acceptance. My approach to therapy, or my “therapy style”, values authenticity and a deep respect for my clients’ unique experiences.

I’m here to guide you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery and provide a safe space where you feel genuinely heard, accepted, and understood. With me as your therapist, you can expect a partnership rooted in empathy, respect, and genuine commitment to your growth and wellbeing.

My “Why”

In the heart of my practice, I am more than a therapist – I am a human soul witnessing the struggles that our society faces today. I understand the hesitations, the cultural complexities, and the raw vulnerability that comes with seeking help.

As a first-generation Mexican-American therapist, I embrace my identity and hope that by showing up as my authentic self in the lives of others, I can be a testament to the power of resilience and the potential for growth in every person. My lived experiences have fueled my passion for mental health, instilled empathy, and deepened my commitment to helping others grow.

In my story, I see the stories of countless others. With every session, I stand alongside my clients, guiding them towards healing, knowing that their journey is also a triumph over adversity. The decision to heal is an act of rebellion against the cycle of pain and an assertion of the right to a brighter future that every person deserves.

How much brighter could tomorrow be if we started healing today?
